What to write about
- Corrections. If a price, a purity figure or a piece of arithmetic on this site is wrong, tell us and we will fix it and say so. This is the most useful mail we get.
- Buyers who want to be listed. We are building a verified payout index. If you buy scrap gold and are willing to put your terms in writing — percentage of melt, minimum lot, shipping, payment method — we want to hear from you. Listing is based on published terms, not on payment.
- Press and research. Happy to explain our methodology or share how we source data.
What we can't help with
We cannot appraise your jewelry. We cannot tell you what a specific piece is worth from a photograph, identify a hallmark for you, or advise you on whether to sell. We are not appraisers and we do not buy gold — see about for what we actually are.
For a real valuation, find a local appraiser or ask several buyers to test and quote in person.
